Ryan AllenAssistant Professor of Community and Economic Development
Ryan Allen is an assistant professor of community and economic development at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Policy at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on the community and economic development processes of immigrants in the United States. In particular, Dr. Allen is interested in how immigrants use social capital and the experience of immigrants in the U.S. housing market. His practical research approach to these topics draws upon the strengths of multiple disciplines, including sociology, economics, and political science, and takes advantage of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Allen received his bachelor's degree in economics and history from the College of William and Mary and earned a master's degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He completed his Ph.D. in urban studies and planning at MIT.
