 Rachel Surls, County Extension Director

Rachel Surls is the County Director for University of California Cooperative Extension in Los Angeles County. Before taking on that role in 1997, Rachel was the Urban Horticulture Advisor and was very involved in promoting school, community and home gardening. Prior to joining UC, Rachel was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras from 1985-87. She recently completed her Ph.D. in education, with an emphasis in higher education administration, at Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. Land-grant universities, in particular, the history and current status of Cooperative Extension, were the focus of her studies. |
